Tradition since 1946
The company, founded by Jan Ficek (* 1913 – † 1986), was founded in Chrudim in 1946. At that time, Jan Ficek bought the old mill building and after the most necessary repairs began production. At that time, the company employed about 150 people from Chrudim and surroundings. The production program consisted of wood products such as radio boxes, toys, inlaid paintings, wooden haberdashery, etc.
In February 1948, after the Communist takeover, the company was nationalized without compensation and the owner’s family moved out of the company building.
In 1989, the son of the company founder, Jan Ficek, asked for the return of the nationalized property, and since 1992 he has restarted production under the name Jan Ficek Dřevovýroba.
In 2013, the company decided to follow the tradition of 1946 and started the production of luxury furniture, which uses the finest hand and laser engraved veneer and inlaid marquetry. In the same year, the company also became a member of the Czech Furniture Association.
We produce veneer splices and edges, furniture and furniture parts from all known wood species. We supply joints, edges and components to furniture manufacturers, doors – standard and frame, floating floors, cladding panels and others. We are also engaged in joinery services in the field of pressing, grinding, folding, sales of dtd, MDF, etc.
JFD is an individual manufacturer in both the mid and luxury market segments. We also realize complete custom interiors in cooperation with proven suppliers of interior solutions and accessories. A part of our company is also the Bořek Šípek gallery located in Bratislava and the social project Fíha Dýha. Every year we also participate mainly in local charity or endowment projects
The company employs about 100 workers and is engaged in the production of veneer splices and edges (from all known wood species), which it supplies to furniture, door – standard and frame, floating floors, cladding panels and other customers who work with the veneer. The company also specializes in the production of furniture parts, custom furniture and complete supply of interiors.
JFD owns and manufactures an individual luxury furniture collection by the author Bořek Šípek, Archilles and the NUX design collection by architect Tereza Šašková. If you are interested in making individual furniture, then you are at the right address.
